Animals – Close Contact with Line

The series of ink drawings making close contact with the animal world is characteristically filigrane. Fragile and delicate, and thus hardly visible, the line draws a shape on paper. Realism is not the goal, but the different animals are recognisable from their particularities. This approach creates fantastical shapes and proves that our image of the world is flexible and can deviate from reality. The smooth line is there to show invisible things, which are not seen at first glance: it is about the beauty of living creatures in our environment. They are vulnerable and need to be protected. By the use of a drawing technique adapted to it, our appreciation of the fragility and beauty of our surroundings intensifies.
